THE LIVE SIDE
Ambit magazine is known for its live events. Meet the Ambit editors,
writers and artists at our regular readings. We read on the
2nd Tuesday of each month at
our central London venue The Bath House pub in Soho (excluding
Jan, July and Aug) and we launch each issue, every 3 months,
at The Owl
Bookshop
in
Kentish
Town,
London
(Jan, April, July, Oct). We also do special events around the country
and sometimes read outside the UK. Recent international events
have included readings
in New York and Paris.
AMBIT VISITS
Within the UK we can come and do a reading in your local bookshop,
library, school or university. We can bring new writers, or established
writers, or run writing workshops or ‘meet the editors’
sessions. Contact us for more information.
EVENTS MAILNG LIST
We regularly update this page but if you would like to be on our
email list (you will get about one email a month, no attachments,
and we will not pass on your details) please email us at info@ambitmagazine.co.uk
UPCOMING EVENTS:
AMBIT Reading at the Bath House!
Join us on Tuesday 13 May 2008 for an evening of poetry and
prose introduced by Dr Martin Bax. Helen Ivory and Tim Liardet
will be reading their prose and poetry for your enjoyment, elucidation,
and perhaps a little enlightement.
Readers from the floor, as always, welcome (one page max, please)!
Tim Liardet's latest book The Blood Choir was awarded and Arts Council English Writer's Award in 2003, was
a Poetry Book Society Recommendation for Summer 2006 and shortlisted
for the 2006 T.S. Eliot prize.
Helen Ivory has worked in shops, behind bars, on building sites
and with several thousand free-range hens. In 1999 she won an Eric
Gregory Award. She was awarded an Arts Council writer’s bursary
in 2005 and is now Academic Director and teacher of Creative Writing
for Continuing Education at the University of East Anglia. She
has published two collections with Bloodaxe, The Double Life
of Clocks (2002) and The Dog in the Sky (2006).
Time: Starts 6.30 for 7pm. Entrance: £5 or £4 concs.
