AMBIT – JUST WHAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED!
In 1959 a London Paediatrician, Dr Martin Bax, diagnosed Angst and Ennui as the prevailing mood. He prescribed AMBIT: poetry, fiction and art - sometimes shocking, sometimes erotic, sometimes comic, always compelling - plus a small dose of unstuffy poetry reviews.

THE AMBIT CONSULTANTS
Over the years, from small beginnings, the team has come together. Edwin Brock was joined by Carol Ann Duffy and Henry Graham to pick the poetry, and JG Ballard was joined by Geoff Nicholson to pick the prose. Mike Foreman tracks down the pictures while designer John Morgan makes sure that Ambit retains its reputation for visual seduction.

AMBIT TODAY
Now sponsored by Arts England, and as ever a non-profit making magazine, Ambit is still going strong after more than 40 years of publishing.

THE AMBIT ARCHIVE
We plan to have an online archive available on this site soon. In the meantime you can link to selected archival issues via The Poetry Library’s website: www.poetrymagazines.org.uk

ARCHIVAL ISSUES
Many archival issues are still available. Contact us to find out about prices, to order a copy of our index or to find out about specific writers we have published.
